We’ve completed the second Member Orientation session. The subject is The Rotary Foundation. The presentation covers a pretty wide variety of TRF topics, including the history of the Foundation, the way the Foundation currently works and some of the changes coming down the pipe with Future Vision. The session is aimed to take about 30 minutes so that it can be used in a regular Rotary club meeting.
Take a look and let us know if you have any feedback.
We’re || this close to ending polio. If you have someone you’re trying to convince to join Rotary, this video might help seal the deal. I think it does a fantastic job of demonstrating the work Rotary does as well as the international appeal of Rotary. Bishop Tutu, Jackie Chan, Angelique Kidjo and others help make the appeal.
Rotary International does amazing work, in your community and around the globe. I honestly believe that if more people understood what Rotary does we’d have more members. Share the video and get the word out!
Per a request at today’s Membership, Foundation & PR seminar, you can download the editable PDF version of RI form 254-EN here. It’s the same form that you’ve come to know and love, but you can now edit it, sign it electronically and attach it to an email. Let us know how it works for you.
The first Member Orientation PowerPoint presentation is online! These sessions are designed to be done quickly but give broad insight into both Rotary International and your club. We are attempting to make each session a 30-minute presentation that can be used in a regular club meeting. Our goal is to release four sessions this year, one per quarter.
Please download and look at the PowerPoint. All feedback is very welcome. Let us know if you use it in your club and the response it generates. We want to put out useful resources for our clubs, and part of that is iterating these tools to make them better.
Many thanks!
The Membership, Foundation & PR Seminar is approaching quickly – August 13 is just over a week away. We’re preparing the presentations and working on what we’ll be tackling. But we’d like to know – what do you want to hear about? What membership topics are out there that your club most needs to tackle? Is it recruitment, retention, or some subset of those? Is it getting your club to embrace a committee structure?
What can we as a district work through to help you the most? Let us know and we’ll work to get it on the agenda.
In May I was given the opportunity to speak to the Hattiesburg Rotary Club. The topic was to be membership retention. As District 6840 membership chair for 2010-2011, I had seen the effects of member retention (or the lack thereof). Early in the 2010-2011 Rotary year I think all of our clubs held a secret meeting and decided to trim their rolls at the same time (and for the first time in years). It was an interesting couple of months.
Welcome to the membership site of Rotary District 6840. We’re excited to have a site where we can share ideas and resources with not only the clubs in our district but also around the world.
This site is the work and brainchild of the District 6840 Membership Committee. The committee members are LeAyn Walton, John Harmon, Paul Ellis and Brian Hall. All four were graduates of District 6840′s Rotary Leadership Academy (Rotary Leadership Institute to the rest of the world). We hope to help drive increased membership throughout our district.
If you have questions or comments please don’t hesitate to send them on. We look forward to hearing from you.
